Security Bars are Outdated and
Can Endanger Lives
Around the world all people endeavor to
secure their property to the best of their
abilities employing many available methods. One
measure is the introduction of security bars to
the doors and windows which, contrary to the
reason for which they are put in, serve to be a
hindrance, often endangering the occupants.
While the security bars seem to be apparent
deterrents to the casual intruder, as he would
prefer to choose another home rather than
attempt to break through the bars, the measure
of security provided by these bars is
outweighed by their disadvantages.
In times of emergencies such as fire,
flooding and the like, these bars will be
veritable traps for the people inside. Rather
than protect them, they will endanger them by
allowing them to be held hostage in their
homes.
Another negative of window security bars is
the fact that they rust easily and need to be
replaced on a regular basis. Besides, if they
are rickety, they can be used by the intruder
as a weapon to intimidate the owners.
The security bars are no longer an
inexpensive or a viable option to the array of
security options available today. Many
companies offer free installation of alarm
systems which provides protection from not just
invasions but fire, smoke, panic situations and
medical emergencies at very reasonable
rates.
There are many other options to security
bars – planting of thorny bushes under the
windows and access points, effective and well
positioned lighting as the one thing that
intruders or criminals never want, is to be
identified.
The only aspect of the newer security
systems that may cause you to pause and think
is the added monthly cost. However, the
benefits of a security system far outweigh the
money that will be expended.
There is no question that security bars are
a thing of the past and should not be
considered at all when desiring to add security
measures to your home. The newer models will
prove to be worth every cent in that not only
will they be effective, but will secure you a
good night’s sleep.
