Exterior Security Lighting for
Homes and Businesses
As we all value our lives and our privacy,
there is no doubt that keeping our homes and
businesses safe is a priority for everyone.
Among the various methods employed, the
simplest and most effective one is often the
one most overlooked, and that is adequate
security lighting for the exteriors of our
property.
Strategically placed lights have a
double edged advantage - it will protect the
owners and employees from avoiding pot holes
and hurting themselves while walking outside in
the dark and it will deter prospective
intruders from attempting to break in.
Basically most casual intruders are
opportunists and a darkened exterior acts like
a beacon to them. Do not provide them with such
opportunities by placing security lights at all
entrances and easily scalable points so they
can be seen even from a distance.
Try not to build storage units near doors
and windows which can provide them with easy
access to the roof. By the same logic, do
not leave ladders lying about.
The use of motion sensor lights is rather
effective as it will not annoy your neighbors
in case you tend to keep very bright lights on
similar to a high security set-up. Rope lights
under your windows not only add to the security
aspect, but they make the house look attractive
enough to invite passerbies to look at it in
appreciation. Solar lights are a good option
especially in the environmentally concerned
world today.
A combination of two or more of the options
cited above may cater to your needs and provide
a simple and effective solution to home
security through lighting.
